Techniques & Modalities We Use Include:

Whole Body Diversified Adjusting

Diversified Adjusting is one of the most widely used forms of manipulation in chiropractic. The focus is on restoration to normal biomechanical function and correction of subluxations through a high velocity, low amplitude thrust that usually results in a joint cavitation (popping noise). Whole Body Diversified Adjusting also includes adjusting any joint on the body where necessary, including knees, ankles, elbows, and wrists.

This manual adjustment technique allows for specificity in correcting mechanical distortions of the spine and whole body. It also helps create motion in the joints with the ultimate goal of restoring structure and function.

The Zone Technique

Dr. Cutting was the first doctor certified in the state of Oregon to perform this technique and is the only practitioner in the Eugene/Springfield area. The process involves locating the zone that is out of balance on the body. Afterward, the body is adjusted specifically according to how the body reacts for quick, individualized results.

The creator of this technique, Dr. Fleet, summarizes it this way: “There are only six kinds of disturbances that can affect the human body. These are glandular, eliminative, nervous, digestive, muscular, and circulatory. All diseased conditions, aches and pains, and other discomforts experienced by the body can be attributed to one or more of the above disturbances to the body’s six systems or Zones.”

The Webster Technique

Chiropractic care in pregnancy is vital to both the mother and baby’s normal physiological function throughout pregnancy and birth.

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and diversified adjustment. Sacral subluxation may contribute to difficult labor for the mother, caused by inadequate uterine function, pelvic contraction, and the baby with an incorrect presentation. Correction of this problem through chiropractic may positively affect all of these causes of difficult labor.

In addition, this technique provides the chance for the baby to be in the best position for birth, especially if there is a breach or posterior presentation. This technique also provides much-needed pain relief from the aches and pains of pregnancy.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release uses gentle, sustained pressure on connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore proper movement. It works through relaxing contracted muscles, improving blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulating the muscles’ stretch reflex.

Flexion Distraction Therapy

This therapy involves a special table that lengthens and flexes the spine in an automated and gentle rhythmic motion. Proven clinical benefits include reducing pressure on the spinal nerves from a disc bulge or herniation and increasing spinal motion and fluid within the disc and spinal joints.

Kinesio Taping

Taping is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. It offers extended muscle support to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered in our office.

Taping alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting affect forms convolutions in the skin, thus increasing interstitial space and decreasing inflammation of the affected areas.

Low Level Laser Therapy

Low Level Laser therapy is the application of red and near infra-red light to the body’s surface skin. The intensity of LLLT lasers is not high like a surgical laser; there is no heating effect. It is used to decrease pain or inflammation, promoting the healing of wounds, tissues, and nerves, and preventing tissue damage.

Electric Stimulation

Electric stimulation therapy is a treatment that applies electrical stimulation in treating muscle spasms and pain. It can help prevent atrophy and build strength in patients with injuries. It is also helpful to keep muscles active, especially after any spinal cord injury or a stroke.

Electric stimulation works by mimicking the natural way by which the body exercises its muscles. The electrodes attached to the skin deliver impulses that make the muscles contract. It is beneficial in increasing the patient’s range of motion and improves the circulation of the body. Electric stimulation is used to treat conditions like sprains, strains, arthritis, back pain, scoliosis, and sciatica.
