Dr. Anthony Cutting

Welcome! I was born and raised most of my life in Phoenix, Arizona. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology from the University of Oregon in 2009, and earned my doctorate from The University of Western States in Portland, OR in 2012, graduating summa cum laude.

After completing a rigorous clinical and subsequent externship, I had the opportunity to work alongside a couple of fantastic doctors, learning the ropes regarding the industry. In 2014 I opened my own practice and I’m excited to help my patients embrace health and wellness as a lifestyle.

Outside of practice, I enjoy exploring the Northwest through outdoor activities with family and friends. These include long-distance running, road and mountain biking, hiking, snowboarding and snowshoeing.

I have been married since 2008 to my beautiful wife, Brenna. We have two amazing sons, Ezekiel and Solomon. We attend a local non-denominational Christian church in Eugene where we enjoy fellowship with friends and serving in various capacities.

Brenna Cutting

Office Manager

Hello! I am native to Eugene and love living and working in this community. I’m Dr. Anthony’s wife and mom to our two wonderful boys, Ezekiel and Solomon.

I worked as a dental assistant for many years, but I found my passion in business and health.  That being the case, running our practice is the perfect fit for me. I take pride in keeping things in the office running smoothly and taking care of all the behind the scenes tasks, being a support to all the clinical providers. I expand my knowledge of small business whenever the opportunity arises, in order to ensure efficiency for our patients. I also love getting to know our patients when I help with the front desk as needed.

When I’m not at the office or raising our boys, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, doing CrossFit, being outdoors, herding chickens, and coming up with healthy, delicious meals.

Dena Evenson

Billing Specialist

I was born in Eugene, and raised in Junction City, Oregon. I met my husband when I was 12, we married in 1991, and we have been together ever since. In 2002 my husband’s company asked us to relocate to Fort Worth, Texas. We decided to try it out. After living in Texas for over 14 years, we decided to move back home to be close to family and beautiful Oregon.

I have over 14 years experience in Medical Billing, working with insurance companies, and I am passionate about customer care and service. I pride myself on extreme diligence and attention to detail.  I work hard to keep current on the ever changing world of Medical Billing to ensure that we are up to date with the latest regulations.

When I am not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband, daughter, and our three dachshunds. I love a good movie, fishing, camping, and hanging out with family and friends.

Cass Tocher

Front Office Coordinator

I have lived in Oregon for almost 30 years. Eugene has been our home for the past 18 years.  In my spare time, I raise my two amazing children with my husband.

I am a graduate from Portland State University and have been in customer service management for over 20 years.  I recently started working in the healthcare field over 2 years ago and I love being a part of a service that helps people.  I enjoy working with the community and the patients that come through the office. I have a background in Healthcare Compliance, HIPAA Security Professional, medical auditing, and Emergency Preparedness Management.

Outside of working, I love spending my time with my family, our beagle, and watching my daughter on the soccer field.

Megan Blaney

Chiropractic Assistant

Hi, I’m Megan! I was born and raised in Oregon. I have always had a passion for the medical field and helping others. In the last few years I have worked in a variety of different medical offices. It wasn’t until last year when I was in an auto mobile accident that I realized how passionate I was about Chiropractic and Massage. I had never been adjusted or even stepped foot into a chiropractic office before. After my first adjustment I felt so much improvement in my everyday living. From there I took an interest in Massage therapy as well. That’s when I decided to make it my permanent career. I fell in love with both aspects of treatment so much, I decided to become a Chiropractic Assistant and continue my studies in Massage Therapy. I plan to graduate next year from IBS School, for Massage Therapy. I contribute my healing from both amazing services.

In my spare time my husband and I love being outdoors. Along for our adventures to the mountains, beach, hiking and lake trips, our pup Jett can be found right by our side in every trip.

Michelle Heitman

Licensed Massage Therapist

Originally from Illinois, I moved to Eugene a few years ago for a change of scenery and new adventures.  One of my aspirations was joining Lane Community College’s Massage Therapy Program.  Upon completion in 2014, I earned my Massage Therapy License.  I specialize in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Cupping, and Myofascial Release.

Having struggled with chronic pain in the past, I am empathetic for my clients.  Using various techniques and my intuitive touch, I strive to help my clients overcome their pain and achieve their wellness goals.

When I am not working, I enjoy seeing live music, camping, hiking, and getting lost in a good book.

Bree Ashby

Licensed Massage Therapist

As an Oregon native I am thrilled to call Eugene my new home! With a lifelong interest in health and wellness I chose to enter the field of therapeutic bodywork; completing the Western Focus Program at the Oregon School of Massage (Portland Campus), in 2011.   The core of my initial training included Swedish, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy and Myofascial Release.  Over the years I have furthered my skill set with advanced training in Pre/Perinatal/Postpartum massage and Cupping.

Upon getting licensed, I worked for an acupuncturist and then established my own practice in Lake Oswego, Oregon.  While my husband and I loved the Lake Oswego area, we chose to move the Eugene in 2016 and I enjoy being a member of the Active Chiropractic team!

Outside of the office, I enjoy experimental cooking, yoga and our beautiful outdoors. Long term, my husband Douglas and I look forward to establishing a small family farm in the Eugene area.

Naki Hayashi

Licensed Massage Therapist

Hello, Konnichiwa! I was born and raised in Japan, where massage is more integrated in the culture.  Since I was a child, I have had countless massages, which cultivated my technique and intuition. During my career as a bodywork therapist in Japan, my interest in holistic therapy began to spark. I started teaching Kembi-so (oriental exercise) as a certified instructor, and also started practicing massage as well in the Tokyo area.

In 2008, my family moved to Eugene, Oregon where my passion to be a massage therapist led me back to school. I graduated from Lane Community College massage therapy program and started my new career here in Eugene in 2016. My specialties are Shiatsu, Reflexology, Deep tissue and Relaxation massage.

On a personal note, I have been married to my wonderful husband for 22 years. We have a 21 year old daughter in Tokyo, and a 19 year old son in California. In my spare time, as an empty nester, I enjoy exploring beautiful Oregon’s nature with my husband and dog, working out, traveling, and midnight sewing.

Justin Oliphant

Licensed Massage Therapist

Hi! I’m Justin. I am so excited and grateful to be with such a great team here at Active Chiropractic!
My approach to therapy is as a life-long athlete who has had to overcome many injuries including whiplash, concussions, torn tendons, you name it. My practice began in 2015 on Kaua’i at the Pacific Center for Awareness and Bodywork. There I learned several modalities and came to really love Structural Integration and connective tissue bodywork. I also began my on-going studies in CranioSacral Therapy while on island. In addition to being a massage therapist I also am assistant teacher at Lane Community Colleges Massage Program.

Thankfully I have a loving wife and two incredible kids who keep me grounded and driving forward. My wife and I are originally from the Midwest, we love getting in the forest, hiking and running, hearing the surf and foraging for wild foods. We make wine every fall, farm with friends, and travel whenever and wherever we can.
I can’t wait to meet, work with and support you in your goals to better your health and well-being!

Kristen Barnes

Hi, I’m Kristen!  I have been in the health and fitness industry for over 14 years dedicating my career to helping my clients maximize their well-being through unique mobility work, quick self fixes, exercise, and healthy eating.  I have a bachelors degree in Exercise and Health Science from Kennesaw State University, 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certification with Sarah Joy Marsh, a Level 2 CrossFit Certification, and for 3 years I studied at the Subtle Muscle Testing Institute under Dr. Camden Clay, DC, and Dr. Shawn Murray, DO,  in Atlanta, GA to receive my certification in Clinical Subtle Muscle Testing and Assisted Yoga Stretching from Thai Massage. Recently I have been studying under Dr. Andreo Spina where I have received my certification as a Functional Range Mobility Specialist (FRCms) and a Functional Range Assessment specialist.

On a personal note, my husband and I both hail from the southeast; he from Mobile, Alabama, myself from Atlanta, GA.  We currently live in South Eugene with our two dogs and eight crazy yard chickens. I love riding bikes of any kind (especially mountain bikes), hiking, yoga, and dancing.  I’m also a total foodie and LOVE cooking and eating clean. When I’m not doing that you might find me riding my bike with my dogs, reading a book by the fire, or playing in my garden.  I look forward to meeting you at Active Chiropractic very soon!

Karly Lichvarcik

Physical Rehabilitation Specialist & Yoga Instructor

Hi! My name is Karlene (feel free to call me Karly) — I was born in Boston and raised in lil Rhody and received my B.S. from Boston University before leaving the East Coast. After living all over the States, as well as Europe and Australia, my young family and I landed, sight unseen, in Eugene, six years ago to finally plant our roots. I have always been a body investigator; from a curious young athlete, to coaching, to working with individuals with cognitive disabilities, to offering healing hands-on touch (Reiki), to teaching body-breath synchronicity (Yoga) — my innate curiosity and drive to evolve fuels my perpetual study of the mind-body-spirit connection. Presently, I’m studying Dr. Andreo Spina’s Functional Range Mobility work and soon set to undergo training licensure as a Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist (FRCms).

I am an industrious-introverted homebody at heart; I appreciate laughter, kindness and community. When I’m not teaching or studying, I’m conducting the orchestra of my life…led by my favorite musicians, my kiddos. I’m the proud mother of three wondrous humans: Vera (13), Romin (9) and Cormac (7), and supported by my best friend, aka husband Nate — who inspire me daily to be a better human.

My work is exciting, I love what I do because wellness, movement and health is very important to me and I’m excited to share what an asset Active Chiropractic is to the Eugene community!
