Physical Rehabilitation Specialist & Fitness Instructor
Hi, I’m Kristen! I have been in the health and fitness industry for over 14 years dedicating my career to helping my clients maximize their well-being through unique mobility work, quick self fixes, exercise, and healthy eating. I have a bachelors degree in Exercise and Health Science from Kennesaw State University, 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certification with Sarah Joy Marsh, a Level 2 CrossFit Certification, and for 3 years I studied at the Subtle Muscle Testing Institute under Dr. Camden Clay, DC, and Dr. Shawn Murray, DO, in Atlanta, GA to receive my certification in Clinical Subtle Muscle Testing and Assisted Yoga Stretching from Thai Massage. Recently I have been studying under Dr. Andreo Spina where I have received my certification as a Functional Range Mobility Specialist (FRCms) and a Functional Range Assessment specialist.
On a personal note, my husband and I both hail from the southeast; he from Mobile, Alabama, myself from Atlanta, GA. We currently live in South Eugene with our two dogs and eight crazy yard chickens. I love riding bikes of any kind (especially mountain bikes), hiking, yoga, and dancing. I’m also a total foodie and LOVE cooking and eating clean. When I’m not doing that you might find me riding my bike with my dogs, reading a book by the fire, or playing in my garden. I look forward to meeting you at Active Chiropractic very soon!
Physical Rehabilitation Specialist & Yoga Instructor
Hi! My name is Karlene (feel free to call me Karly) — I was born in Boston and raised in lil Rhody and received my B.S. from Boston University before leaving the East Coast. After living all over the States, as well as Europe and Australia, my young family and I landed, sight unseen, in Eugene, six years ago to finally plant our roots. I have always been a body investigator; from a curious young athlete, to coaching, to working with individuals with cognitive disabilities, to offering healing hands-on touch (Reiki), to teaching body-breath synchronicity (Yoga) — my innate curiosity and drive to evolve fuels my perpetual study of the mind-body-spirit connection. Presently, I’m studying Dr. Andreo Spina’s Functional Range Mobility work and soon set to undergo training licensure as a Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist (FRCms).
I am an industrious-introverted homebody at heart; I appreciate laughter, kindness and community. When I’m not teaching or studying, I’m conducting the orchestra of my life…led by my favorite musicians, my kiddos. I’m the proud mother of three wondrous humans: Vera (13), Romin (9) and Cormac (7), and supported by my best friend, aka husband Nate — who inspire me daily to be a better human.
